With the advent of Obamacare, we need to also prepare for medical problems in our survival planning. It has always been necessary to have enough medical supplies and to know how to use them, with Obamacare in force it is even more important. One of the things I believe we all need to know now is how to find herbs in the wild and how to grow those that we need to grow. Here I am talking about medicinal herb, not the culinary type. You should know the culinary type also for your food supply, but the medicinal type are even more important.

I currently make a salve and ear drops. I did not get a start until last fall and I need to wait for summer to come and the herbs to start growing again. Actually, when making my salve, I had to purchase the comfry roots I needed. I also needed to purchase some beeswax to make it the consistency I wanted. I had the lard and the plantain that I needed and cannot grow the comfry until this year. Even then, you cannot use comfry roots until the third year. This means I will have to continue to purchase it until the plants that I am starting this year are ready.

There are many things that you can make that are totally safe and that will alleviate many of the problems that we may have. We also need to purchase as much first aid and medical equipment as possible. I am not sure at this point what is going to happen with our drugs and other medical supplies. I know that many medical devices are going to be taxed to make them much more expensive. If you feel you are going to need any of these items, now is the time to purchase them.

You should have a personal first aid kit for each member of the family. These kits can be the ones you purchase or you can make your own up. Even if you purchase one, you will need to add some things to it. You should include a few pills of any prescription medicine that the individual is taking. There may be other items such as a certain over the counter allergy pill that a person needs. This is one of the main reasons I make my own first aid kits up.

Every family should also have a very complete first aid kit or a medical kit. This should contain many items like sutures and special bandages along with medical tools. You will probably want to get only as much as you feel comfortable using. You may not feel ready to care for a bullet wound, but think about what you will do if some one receives on. You may want to study up on these things now so that you are ready if it happens. If it never happens, the knowledge will not hurt. This is true for learning about herbal medicine also. You may never need the knowledge, but if you do it will be too late when the ship hits the sand.

Set

Grab your butt with both hands and hang on, this is going to be a wild ride. Pretendsident Hussein has just driven the first wedge between the people of this country and the going is going to get rough. This health care bill has divided the country and his next gambit will finish the job. Now that he has a health care bill passed he is going to work on an immigration bill. He needs all of the invaders that are currently here to become citizens before November to have people to vote for the democrats. If he gets his way look for a civil war to start. Now is the time to get ready. As usual, I hope I am wrong but even if I am there will be no harm done by getting ready.

Now is the time to make sure you will have enough food for an extended period of time. If things get bad there will probably not be any deliveries to supermarkets and they will soon run out of food. Stock up as much as possible and if possible make plans to grow as much of your own food as possible. I will be growing less items in my garden this year but will be growing more of what I do grow. Staples like beans and tomatoes and other things that will keep like carrots and turnips. I am also planning to do some seed saving this year so that I do not need to purchase seeds if things get really bad. If you want to do this you will need to purchase heirloom seeds and not hybrids. You would probably do well to either purchase a good book on seed saving or look up as much as possible on the Internet and print out the information you need. There could be power outages or other interruptions of the Internet. Actually the FCC is currently looking for a way to give the pretendsident total control of the Internet if something like that would happen.

Just as soon as your food plans are complete, make sure your home defense plans are also complete. You are going to have to be able to protect your family and your property. This will be especially if you decide to grow food and are in a spot where people can see what you are doing. Try to camouflage your garden if it is in a place where you think the wrong people may see it. If you are lucky like me, you live at the end of a dead end road and very few people even come this way. You also need to make sure that you have enough firearms and ammo to ward off any dirtbags that try to get into your home to rip you off. You may also be in an area where actual rioting and fighting are going on. In that case be sure you can protect yourself and your family.

Try to have backups for everything that you consider necessary. That includes water, cooking methods, heat if you are in an area where it is needed in the winter, electricity, natural gas, etc. etc. You know what you believe is necessary and you also know your family. You know how they will handle such a situation and what they will need to survive.

Ready

Welcome to what I think is one of the most important times in the history of the United States. As I stated last week, I believe that martial law is coming and we need to be ready for it. I hope I am wrong and if I am I do not feel that anyone will lose anything by following my advice. My advice is to get as ready as possible to live without the rest of the world.

First I am getting my firearms ready. Now, there are a lot of people who say that you should hide all your guns just in case of martial law and the government coming for them. I have one problem with that thinking, "What am I supposed to do to protect myself if all my guns are hidden away?" My suggestion is to hide several guns but to keep several handy. If you are a person with only one or two guns I really do not know what to tell you. I guess I would say to deep the guns where you can get at them quick. My suggestion for those with multiple guns is to hide a .22 rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, a pistol or two and a battle weapon. By this I mean a center fire rifle that you could use a a main defense weapon. It might be an AR 15 an AK 47 or some other weapon. It could be a .308 semi-auto or even a 30-06 bolt action. My feeling about battle weapon is to use whatever you have and are totally comfortable with.

How do we hide guns ? Well, one of the things that I think is best is to first put them in tubes made from PVC pipe. Then you can bury them without them rusting. Grease them up good first and put a desiccant pouch in with the gun. Make sure you put your ammo for that gun in the same tube as the gun or another shorter tube that is buried right next to the gun. Digging up a buried gun and not having the right ammo for it would be a kind of useless exercise.

If anyone is interested, leave me a not at the end of a post and I will get back to you. I believe that I have written in previous posts about what type of guns and how much ammo you need. I will cover that again in a future column, For now, just worry about getting your guns into a safe place with half of them hidden if you have enough guns.

It is Coming

I apologize for not keeping this blog nor my other blogs up. During the last few months we have been having some family health problems, (not me). There have also been some other issues which took a lot of my time. I feel that most of that is behind me now and I will be able to once again be able to keep all readers informed weekly as to what is going on in the world of survival. My posts may be a little shorter than in the past, I am hoping by keeping them shorter, I can be with you more often.

First of all I would suggest anyone join the "Well Regulated Militia" or some similar online group. Find a group like "Midwest Alarm and Muster" and join that also. We need to have a line of communications open at all time. When the ship hits the sand, it may come on very suddenly, not giving us much of a chance to get ready to defend ourselves and our loved ones. For those of you who do not read my political blog at http://www.therealamericanpolitics.blogspot.com this week I wrote about why I think our pretendsident is pushing through all of the things that the people do not want. It is to get us angry enough to start an uprising and give the fasciunists a reason to call for martial law.

We have been through much of this before and I think all of you know what to do. I am currently ordering my seeds for my garden. I want them here early so that when it happens I do not get caught in the rush of all the rest of society fighting for what is left. I am currently buying heirloom seeds and very few hybrids. In this way I will be able to save seeds. I am currently getting all of my debts under control. In fact I am eliminating as many of them as quickly as possible. Hopefully the only thing I will owe by the first of July will be my mortgage. I wish I could get rid of that too, it is just not possible at this time.

I am currently also upgrading all of my self-defense weapons as well as my hunting weapons. I am cleaning up my fishing tackle as well so that I can get as much food as possible outside regular channels. I also have a list of places to pick berries and other wild food. The upgrading of my weapons is a serious matter as I feel that they will probably be needed. Next week I will take you into what I am doing and how I am going about it.
