Location: Necedah, Wisconsin

I am retired from the work world and do freelance writing. I have served in the armed forces and worked in various industries. I have worked for both political parties and found them both to be lacking. After watching politics for a long time I came to all new conclusions. This is why I got into survivalism and why I am warning people of the politics of this country. I also am tired of people crying the sky is falling. They are actually saying mankind is causing global warming. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to try to disprove the garbage they are putting out.

Sensible Survival Investing

"Sensible", showing good sense or sound judgement. "Survival", to continue to live after or in spite of. "Investment", the use of money for the purpose of obtaining income or profit. Now that we all are using the same defination for the words, what do they mean to a survivalist. When doing survival investing, you need to remember it is much different than what most people call "normal" investing. I hope to be able to show in ne next few days how to invest for survival. As I write this the price of oil is over $70 a barrel. I do not believe that we have too much time left to do our investing. First of all, some of the type of investing I advise the government will probably call stockpiling. Thus you need to be careful of who knows what you are doing. Only my closest family and one friend know what I have for survival investments. When the ship hits the sand, no one knows what the government will decide to confiscate. The first two things to do when survival investing is to pay off ALL of your bills and start to stockpile food. I keep a two year supply on hand for the wife and me. The way I do it is to have a mix of fresh from the garden, canned, dried and vacuum packed, store bought and repackeged and vacuum packed and frozen. Yes, you read that right, frozen. I also have a generator and enough gas that if my electricity fails, I can keep that freezer going while we can the contents of the freezer. We also have the capacity to do the canning. More on Fri.

Possibilities

One of the important possibilities to prepare for is world financial collapse. Other than local natural disasters this is the best possibility of a major catastrophe. I do not see terrorism as being a major nationwide problem at this time. The terrorists have most people in this country scared enough that they are willing to give up some of their freedoms. Which brings up what I consider the second possibility of needing survival skills, dictatorship. While people say it cannot happen here, just look at the creeping loss of freedoms over the last decade and then look at how that loss is speeding up now. But back to financial collapse. As I see it, (just one person's opinion), the first thing that will go is that the real estate bubble will burst. This will partly be caused by the high gas and other fuel prices we are now paying. When people cannot pay both their heating costs and the mortgage, there is going to be a mad scramble. They will still need money to buy gas to get to work and that will really put a crimp in their life style. The big push now is to purchase hybrid cars. This will only excacerabate the problem. Now they will be making payments on a $50 or $60,000 car along with the exhorbitant house payments and their new larger and better, (ha, ha) heating bill. All of this will start the economy going down like a house of cards. More on Wed.

What is SASL?

Many years ago I read a magazine ad that offered a survival retreat for a mere two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. This was back in the seventies, so you can imagine what that same place would cost today. I could not afford something like that then and I cannot afford it now. I then started looking at other survival gear and found that I could not afford to be a survivalist at the prices of the gear they were pushing. Very expensive semi or fully auto weapons, high priced four wheel drive vehicles and all sorts of other expensive equipment. I was making pretty good money at the time and I felt that if I could not afford to be a survivalist most others could not either. That is unless you were wealthy. That was when I started to put together a plan for the rest of us to use for survival. I called it Sensible Affordable Survival Living or SASL. In this blog I will be talking about all types of survival. I will cover it so that you can continue to live a normal life and still be preparing to be a survivalist. Most people I know do not even know that I am a survivalist. They know I do not golf, bowl, go to pro sports or many other things that they do. What they do not realize is that I do not do these things so that I will have the money to pursue my survival lifestyle. I will be updating this blog twice a week, probably on Tues. and Thurs. I will continue this discourse next time.
