I am retired from the work world and do freelance writing. I have served in the armed forces and worked in various industries. I have worked for both political parties and found them both to be lacking. After watching politics for a long time I came to all new conclusions. This is why I got into survivalism and why I am warning people of the politics of this country. I also am tired of people crying the sky is falling. They are actually saying mankind is causing global warming. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to try to disprove the garbage they are putting out.

Planning II

I am very sorry about the long delay in getting back to this blog. There have been more medical problems in the family and I am basically the only one left to care for them. I hope to be able to find the time to update each week from now on.

In my last post I suggested that there were four scenarios that concerned me. I also stated that there were a number of things you could plan for needing no matter which scenario played out. These items have been written about many times, but I feel still need a review. Also, anyone new to survivalism needs to know this.

I ike to start my list with a two week supply of food and water. This is the food that should be highly portable. The water is to be used if you stay put. If you do not stay put you will need a vehicle to transport that much water. If you have to strike out on foot, you will not be able to carry a two week supply. My next item is a good, complete first aid kit. I prefer to make my own kit, but if you prefer you can purchase a good one. One thing I will advise though is to add to that kit anything that you know you might need. This includes perscriptions and other types of over the counter medicines that you or someone in your party may need. Next a good knife, a good flashlight or two, a portable am, fm, weather radio. Spare batteries for both radio and flashlights.

A lot of what comes after these items depends on the scenario and whether you are going to stay where you are or are going to go to a retreat or cabin or whether you might just be heading out and not even know where you are going to settle down. You may head for a large state or national forest or a wildlife refuge. In this case your needs will be much different. If you are going to a cabin you own, you will need what it takes to live there. If you are headed for the woods you will need camping skills and equipment and probably a map of the area and a good compass. This is why survival advising is so difficult. Unless I know each one's needs, there is no way I can predict what is required.

I did not mention a gun in my survival items and yet it can be very important. In every one of my scenarios I would want a gun for self defense. Personally due to my lifestyle, I would need another one for hunting. Now when I say one, I am talking minimum. I believe that if you go back through this blog that you will find my ideas when it comes to survival weapons. What I have done here I to give the basic minimum to survive for a couple of weeks. That is what I believe is needed before one can start to really get into more serious survivalism. Again I will say it, "Attitude and state of mind are the two most important aspects of survivalism. Right after that comes knowledge.

Hopefully there will be a posting next week. I am not sure on what night of the week I will be posting as I am going to try to split up my blog posting nights. Remember, I have another blog which is http://therealamericanpolitics.blogspot.com I will be doing each on a different night from now on.
